Esenler Belediyesi, Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi ve Avusturya merkezli Society for Urban Ecology – Kentsel Ekoloji Derneği iş birliğinde Kentsel Ekolojik Alanlar Dünya Konferansı gelecek yıl Esenler’de yapılacak.
Esenler Belediyesi, Society for Urban Ecology – Kentsel Ekoloji Derneği’ni 15 Temmuz Millet Bahçesi’nde ağırladı. Esenler Belediye Başkanı M. Tevfik Göksu, derneğin kafilesini bahçede gezdirerek kentsel dönüşüm kapsamında oluşturulan yeşil alanlar hakkında bilgi verdi. Kentsel Ekolojik Derneği, önümüzdeki yıl Kentsel Ekolojik Alanlar Dünya Konferansı Esenler’de yapılacağını bildirdiler.
Esenler Belediye Başkanı M. Tevfik Göksu, Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi ve Avusturya merkezli Society for Urban Ecology – Kentsel Ekoloji Derneği’nin İstanbul’un kentsel ekolojik alanlarını incelemek üzere düzenlediği yaz okulu kafilesini 15 Temmuz Millet Bahçesi’nde misafir etti. Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi Öğretim Üyesi Prof. Dr. Meryem Hayır Kanat ile Kentsel Ekoloji Derneği Başkanı Prof. Dr. Jürgen Breuste başkanlığındaki bilim insanları, İstanbul’un en önemli ekolojik bahçelerinden biri olan 15 Temmuz Millet Bahçesi’nde incelemelerde bulundular.

Yaklaşık 40 kişilik bir kafileyi 15 Temmuz Millet Bahçesi’nde ağırlayan Göksu, Tıbbi Bitkiler ve Şifa Bahçesi’nde özel olarak yetiştirilen bitkileri tanıttı. Esenler genelindeki kentsel dönüşüm çalışmalarına ve yeni yeşil alanlara dair bilgi veren Göksu, “Oruçreis Mahallesi’nde 70 bin metrekare alanı tamamen konutlardan arındırdık. 2017 konutu yıkarak açtığımız bu alana yakında 15 Temmuz Millet Bahçesi gibi yeni bir millet bahçesi daha yapacağız” dedi. Göksu, önümüzdeki yıl “Kentsel Ekolojik Alanlar” dünya konferansının Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi’nin ev sahipliğinde Esenler’de yapılacak olmasının kendilerini çok mutlu ettiğini ifade etti.
Avusturya merkezli Society for Urban Ecology – Kentsel Ekoloji Derneği Başkanı Prof. Dr. Jürgen Breuste ise, “Esenler’de yeşil alanları artırmak için yapmış olduğunuz çalışmalardan çok etkilendik. İstanbul’a kazandırdığınız bu ekolojik park için sizleri tebrik ediyor, yeni yeşil alanlar kazandırma çalışmalarınızda başarılar diliyorum” dedi.
